Boat Donation Program to Benefit Boating Safety

The ABYC Foundation has announced a vessel donation program, accepting new and used powerboats, sailboats, and personal watercrafts. Donors will have the opportunity to receive a tax deduction while supporting the mission of the ABYC Foundation.

ABYC Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to advancing education for marine professionals, and funding additional research and development of ABYC safety standards.

“Proceeds from these donor boats will directly support efforts to train technicians and provide resources to the boating industry to design, manufacture and repair boats and equipment to the highest industry standards, resulting in safer product and a superior boating experience,” said ABYC President John Adey.

How the program works:

  1. Visit abycinc.org/boatdonation and fill out a form with information about the vessel
  2. If the vessel qualifies, donors will be contacted to obtain additional information to coordinate the exchange
  3. Once sold, all necessary tax documentation will be sent, including Form 1098-C
