Here's your SpinSheet racing roundup for May 26-29 including the Down the Bay Race, Miles River Race, and America's Cup.

It was an epic 120-nautical-mile Down the Bay Race for the Virginia Cruising Cup, starting Friday, May 26 off Annapolis and ending Saturday into Sunday in Hampton, VA. The race is hosted jointly by the Hampton Yacht Club and Storm Trysail Chesapeake Station and acts as a warmup for many for the Annapolis to Newport Race or a way to get their boats south for Southern Bay Race Week, both of which start Friday, June 2.

Thanks to Dan Phelps for attempting to shoot this windless race!

Mother Nature did not show up at the start line for the Annapolis to Miles River Race, although the race committee did everything they could to work with her. They and racers patiently waited, they changed the course to accommodate lighter winds—they TRIED—but no go. Thank you to Eastport Yacht Club and Miles River Yacht Club RC volunteers for your hard work. MRYC offered anyone who’d show up at the party a free drink, also a generous gesture, so thank you for your efforts to keep racers happy! Although fewer showed up and a few dropped out due to light air, some did finish the Sunday Race Back:

So you might have heard by now that there’s this little sailing event they call the AMERICA’S CUP down in Bermuda this year. The Louis Vuitton AC Qualifiers began over the weekend and brought some drama with it including collisions and upsets.

Find results and current standings here.

Round robin 2 begins today through Saturday. Sailing Illustrated is doing a great job covering it.
