USCG Asks Mariners To Help Spot Laser

[caption id="attachment_11397" align="alignright" width="400"] Norfolk sailor Robert Suhay is attempting to sail 317 nautical miles nonstop and unassisted on a Laser to beat the 300-mi world record.[/caption]

This just in from Lisa Suhay, wife of Robert, whose now well-documented attempt to break the world distance record for unassisted dinghy sailing more than halfway complete:

The USCG is asking for assistance from mariners in spotting Robert to warn him of the mortal danger he now faces from the incoming weather. If no mariner can spot him USCG intends to launch a SAR helicopter.

Unless he's in a position close enough to make it back to Hampton Roads tonight, he must bail out. No record is worth the life of this remarkable man.

If you see him on Laser sail #168317, tell him his wife says that. Tweet @NiceChess757 or email [email protected]
