Short sail on Mattox Creek.
Century Club: AJ Batcheller
Took friends out on the Potomac on the pontoon boat.
With a nice steady wind this morning and my newfound confidence thanks to Sail Solomon’s sailing lessons I took in June I couldn’t resist going out for a morning sail on Mattox Creek out towards the Potomac. Taking the course of least resistance the wind pushed me towards the entrance of Monroe Bay. A few hundred yards from the entrance I saw a pair of dolphins’ surface three times about 30 yards away. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of these magnificent mammals.
Paddleboard on Mattok Creek.
It was a super-hot day in the 90's but there was definitely a breeze, so I headed out. Looked like a good day to cross the Potomac to Cobb Island but the wind became pretty much nonexistent, so I ended up motoring back. Though I like the warm weather I’ll be glad when this heat wave is over.
Late morning / early afternoon sail on Mattox Creek. Okay wind to start but ended up motoring much of the way back.
Took the Pontoon boat out to get fuel but the Dahlgren Naval Range was open so we couldn't cross he Potomac and both Stepps and Dockside were out of fuel. Lesson learned, check before assuming anyone is open and has fuel.
Nice sail after lunch out towards the Potomac.
Sail on Mattox Creek out towards the Potomac with Karen.
Took our friends Mike & Jane to Saint Clements Island on our pontoon boat the Kiwi Kruzer.
