Received an invitation to sail with our friend Ali Banholzer on her boat Heart of Gold. A new acquisition, Ali is always looking for opportunities to get out on the water and having been on our boat Rakali, she graciously invited us to join her on Heart of Gold. While not much wind on a cloudy overcast day, the company was awesome and just being out on the water resulted in a very relaxing afternoon after participating in 5K that morning. Thanks Ali!

Ended our racing season with a beautiful day on the water.
What a great day to be on the water. Perfect wind conditions, cool, but sunny. Although short handed, had a great time with the crew.
Still have 2 races remaining but we took advantage of the weather and light winds to take the boat for fuel in preparation for winterization (i.e. fuel stabilizer)
This Frostbite Race was different than the previous week, light winds, a very short starting line that had 17 boats vying not much space, but at least the winds were steady enough that we had some actual upwind and downwind legs of the course. Regardless it was a beautiful day to be outside.
After the boat bottom was cleaned and the SMSA Annual Meeting and Elections were concluded, we took the boat back to Safe Harbor Zahniser's to get her settled back in before the next day's Frostbite Race.
An early morning scheduled boat bottom cleaning had us taking the boat from Safe Harbor Z's to SMSA the night before and leaving the boat. However, on the positive side we then just walked up to the clubhouse for Happy Hour.
With the weather in the 80s it was hard to believe we were sailing a "Frostbite" race. Winds were fluky, but it was better to be out on the water than doing anything else.
First headed out into the river to watch the Bucctoberfest Race and then headed back into the creek to join the SMSA Cruisers at JT's Dock for some oysters, appetizers and great conversation with friends.
With our mainsail ripping the previous day during the Hooper Point/No-Point Race, we decided to hop on the sailboat the following day and motor out to see how the fleet was fairing and take some photos. The winds were 15-25 with some higher gusts so it was a lot of fun to watch. Check out the SMSA Facebook page to see the photos and video of the days sailing.
