The pop singer Taylor Swift was recently in the Annapolis/Edgewater area looking at a $6 million property, a rep for Coldwell Banker Real Estate has confirmed.
The Tudor-inspired estate is located on Crab Creek off the South River and boasts a swimming pool, home theater, tennis court, carriage house, gazebo, horse stable, and boat house with a private dock for five slips.
"I had shown the listing a couple of times to a client from New York," says Susannah Barnum, the real estate agent affiliated with the singer, "and he mentioned he was considering it for a client of his. When he showed up for a final showing with Taylor Swift, I couldn't believe it."
Barnum says that Swift is looking for waterfront property closer to family in the Pennsylvania area. "She said she was looking for something chill, and had heard good things about Annapolis."
Possibly not so chill (at least for other South River residents) is the fact that Swift plans on bringing a megayacht to Crab Creek.
"She apparently has a home in Rhode Island and has a big boat there," explains Barnum, "and is interested in bringing it down with her. The one highlight of this listing is the eight feet of water at the dock, whereas most places around here are closer to four feet. But I don't think that will be deep enough for what she needs. It might need to be dredged."

The Maryland property is significantly less expensive than Swift's $17.75 million dollar Watch Hill home in Rhode Island, which she purchased in 2013. However, that home has come under fire with security guards harassing beachgoers and the construction of a sea wall below the property. It's unclear what upgrades Swift has planned for the Crab Creek property. The estate also is home to a horse stable, but Swift apparently doesn't plan on bringing any horses with her.
"I asked, but she said she just has cats, and then she showed me a bunch of cat videos she'd made. She's pretty funny." Swift was seen walking around downtown Annapolis on March 31, a day after the showing.
A salesperson from Kokopelli on Main Street confirmed that she came into the shop and left after purchasing an Annapolis candle. "We recognized her immediately," says the sales representative, who asked to remain unnamed. "She was just as nice in person as you would hope."
"She was really down to earth, very sweet," says Barnum, who hopes she does go forward and move the property under contract.
"I asked her who the best person to party with in LA is, and she said that hands-down it's Kanye. I just thought, 'Annapolis needs a little Kanye. Maybe she'll invite him over.'"
Look for a Swift (and possibly Kanye) sighting this summer at Mike's Crab House.
UPDATE: Readers, thanks for enjoying our April Fools post. Although we would love to welcome her as a neighbor, Taylor Swift has no plans on moving to the area. We'll let you know immediately if that changes. --SpinSheet
