Spent the day racing in Willoughby Bay with about 2 dozen other boats. Came in 3rd but fell to 4th by time correction. Ended up the afternoon with friends who beat me in their 34' Saber, enjoying end of season jokes and award ceremony. Placed 1st in Spring Summer and Fall Series and also received a BZ award for all my contributions to Willoughby Racing and for coming back early from cruise to help WR beat Little Creek Racers for the Bold Mariners' Cup! A great day overall, ecept for one tack!

On a cooler and a bit cloudy day my Son and Grandson joined me for a sail out of Hampton and down the Hampton Flats toward Middleground Lighthouse. A pleasant run downwind turned cooler on the up wind legs back to the Hampton River. A nice way to round out the century!

  • Single-Handed Spin fun day 99!

In a race day that had been predicted to be light air we ended up with great winds in the 8 to 12 range. Came in 2nd in the ORC Cruising Spin Fleet and 35 of 44 boats. SIngle-handed spinnaker is a lot of work in a 17nm course!

If you have to motor due to light wind it's nice when the water is also flat calm. Not quite able to catch the tide south out of Deltaville but did get about a two hour assist, and made the HRBT just as the tide was turning, so a good 5kt day. 40 nm in 8 hours made the Fall trip about 380nm at an average speed over ground of 4.5kts.

Left the raft up with Valinor with 9 Pax to go to Pirate Cove for brunch. After return and more fun aboard Valinor, they cast off to head to South River and their home. At 1630 I got underway to head south and skipped Solomons along the way to spend a couple of days in Deltaville instead. 18 hours of motoring and about two hours of sailing along the way. Full moon kept me company throughout the night and into the morning. Arrived at Jackson Creek at 093, anchored by 1030.
