Visitors to Bethany Beach were puzzled when they saw this mechanical giant playing in the surf on Sunday evening. It's nickname is The Crab, and it's going to be exploring the shoreline from Fenwick up to Rehobeth as part of the beach replenishment project. Replensihment pros are using boats and this tall tripod to monitor shoreline depths. The Crab moves directly into the surf, then retraces its path returning to the beach. Then, it moves down the shoreline a distance and repeats the process.
