The local Annapolis area high school teams did very well this weekend that the MASSA Mallory Qualifier in New Jersey (Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club)  this past weekend.  Three local teams qualified to go to the National Fleet Race Championship (Mallory) which is being hosted by USNA on May 9/10 by placing in the Top 4.  Severn, Annapolis HS, and Key School were 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.  Broadneck HS was a close 5th, but did not qualify.

Report from AHS Chaperon Lori Kavle:  "Mallory Qualifier was supposed to be at the Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay but there was severe ice damage.  With short notice, Shrewsbury sailing and John Garth gladly accepted the event and pulled together this fantastic high school regatta.  It was one wicked and wild regatta! Kids went out in the morning but then RC called a 2 hour wind postponement Saturday (sustained at 20+ and gusts to 28-30). Kids went back on the water around 2PM and sailed until sunset. Sunday was light (5/less),  but then the sea breeze filled in around noon  to completed all sets of races."
