No this is not a late April Fools' joke. Check out this breaking news about the Bay Bridge Toll going down from the Star Democrat:
The cost to cross the Bay Bridge is decreasing. Effective July 1, the toll for a two-axle vehicle will drop from $6 to $4 on the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge.
The Maryland Transportation Authority Board, MdTA Chairman and Trasportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn and MdTA Executive Dirctor Bruce W. Gartner met Thursday morning, May 7, at the MdTA Police complex at the Bay Bridge to discuss staff recommendations to reduce toll rates and fees around the state — a moved promoted by Gov. Larry Hogan. The board voted 6 to 2 in favor of giving motorists a break.
The cost for a trip across the Bay Bridge using the EZPass Maryland Discount Plan will go from $5.40 per two-axle vehicle to $2.50, and the monthly administrative fee will go away.
