Never lacking in innovation, a photographer caught scenes of Emirates Team New Zealand's America's Cup contender practicing on the water recently and noticed something amiss.
Turns out the boat has installed a pedal system technology to replace traditional grinding pedestals.
The grinders will power the wing and foils, potentially creating a faster boat. And not just anyone can power the bikes: the Olympic cyclist Simon van Velthooven has joined the team. ETNZ is set to officially unveil the boat tomorrow, when we'll learn more about the surprise innovation.
