Today was sunny with 43 degrees at our 7 am departure and a high of 68 degrees. A pleasant breeze from the NE allowed some motor sailing but less than the previous day. Debbie provided blueberry pancakes for breakfast while underway. The two low bridgrs opened on the hour but we timed them perfectly. We covered our 40 nm trip in 7 hours resulting in an early afternoon arrival in Southport Basin. Fortunately, we were the only boat anchored in this quaint little harbor. As we settled in we discovered that we would be aground at low tide, and that would delay our morning departure. We weighed anchor and found an extra two feet of depth closer to the docks that lined one shore. We met Roger and Michelle for delightful drinks and dinner at the Edgewater 122 restaurant. The evening was topped off by a stroll along the water's edge.
