We departed shortly after 7am for the 8:30 South Mill lock opening. From there we traveled a meandering route to Elizabeth City. A Beneteau 343 passed us going North, the only such sighting of the day. The bridge master in Elizabeth City seemed surprised we were just passing through. We sailed most of the way to our destination. With strong SW winds we reefed the main and jib and anticipated some chop in the Albemarle Sound. That never materialized and we took out the reef as we crossed the Sound. Our final destination was South Lake, about three miles off the ICW. We anchored in 7 feet of water. It was a comfortable journey.
