The storms cleared, but the humidity did not. Nevertheless, we motored the short distance from Liberty Marina to the mouth of Almshouse Creek on the Edgewater side of the South River. Lots of boats jockeying for position, and lots of wake, but it eventually settled for the fireworks display.
We watched the crew of one small powerboat haplessly attempt to anchor a half dozen times and felt their pain. So, rather than be the smug, safely anchored, old folks sitting in our deck chairs, sipping chenin blanc and reveling in the compliments tossed towards our ancient but pretty boat, we waved them over and gave them a bit of advice. With Rick's guidance to let our a LOT more scope, they nailed it. Such a boy scout.
We were back at Liberty in minutes, but Heron hates to back, so docking in the dark was a trial. We eventually made it.
