Cruising on the Chesapeake: Hunter Sailing Association

The heart of sailing season for Chesapeake Hunter Sailing Association Station-1

It's the heart of sailing season and Chesapeake Sailing Clubs are making the most of the long summer days. Here is an update from the Hunter Sailing Association Station-1.

The Hunter Sailing Association Station-1(HSA-1) had a Memorial Day weekend raftup in Shaw Bay off the Wye River.

The Hunter Sailing Association Station-1(HSA-1) had a Memorial Day weekend raftup in Shaw Bay off the Wye River. Renegade was raft captain and hosted a happy hour. We had nine boats on three rafts. Lots of laughs and talk as we welcomed in the unofficial start of summer. Due to the weather, we cut off the weekend early. Safety first!

The beginning of June is usually BrewFest in St. Michaels, MD, and this year did not disappoint. HSA-1 was out in force with 11 boats joining in all the fun. We sampled a wide variety of beer across three venues with our friends. Ruff N It hosted a happy hour in Muskrat Park the night before, and we socialized with food and drink to kick off our weekend.

As this submission was sent, HSA-1 had a nighttime sail planned during the full moon and summer solstice. HSA-1 has not had a night sail in several years, so this would be a great opportunity to learn from others who have sailed at night before. Stay tuned for updates!

If you have a Hunter or Marlow-Hunter in the mid-Chesapeake Bay and are not a member, please check out our club at hsa1.org or email our commodore to learn more about the benefits of membership, which includes access to all club cruises and events and a direct connection to a network of Chesapeake Bay Hunter owners.
