If you’re a sailor, it does not take much time in Annapolis before you understand that Eastport, that part of town across Spa Creek from the Historic District, is a special place in itself, noted lovingly by the locals by its zip code: 21403.

Take SpinSheet's Eastport survey here.

The Eastport section of Annapolis is popular among sailors not only because of its many marinas, boatyards, well-loved bars, and cute houses, but also because of its quirky, fun-loving events: Green Beer Races, the MRE Tug of War and .05K Run over Spa Creek, Eastport a’Rockin, and the Annapolis Maritime Museum’s many concerts and events, such as the Oyster Roast and Sock Burning held each spring and the Beach Party held each fall.

The town of Eastport was established in 1878 and has a long history of boatbuilding and oystering. The Annapolis Maritime Museum is dedicated to sharing that maritime history. If you’ve never been there before, it’s worth stopping into the former McNasby’s Oyster Plant, now the centerpiece of the museum’s campus.

When new sailors come to town, they tend to learn quickly about the Maritime Republic of Eastport and the two best sailor bars: Davis’ Pub and the Boatyard Bar & Grill. Some head to higher-end restaurants, such as O’Leary’s Seafood, the Chart House, or Lewnes’ Steak House.

They discover Eastport’s street-end parks, where they can watch the end of Annapolis Yacht Club’s Wednesday Night Races, or J/World Annapolis, where they hone their sailing skills, or Chesapeake Boating Club, where they can join on-the-water fun. They might be lucky enough to catch a live performance by our very own Eastport Oyster Boys.

Sometimes... oftentimes, they start looking at real estate and dreaming about living the watery life in Eastport themselves…
