Here are some virtual events to keep sailors’ heads in the game as we ride out this odd moment in our history and keep our families and communities healthy. We’re trying our best to plug these into the SpinSheet calendar as we receive them, yet admit that they are cropping up faster than we can keep up, so please send us updates anytime:
Friday Happy Hour With SpinSheet and North Sails
Molly Winans, SpinSheet editor, will share a cocktail with Jonathan Bartlett and Austin Powers of North Sails Chesapeake as we get to know the latest in sail material, manufacturing technology, and key characteristics for a long lasting, high performance cruising sails. Live Webinar: Off the Wind: Modern Advancements in Downwind Sailing
Broad Bay Sailing Association and North Sails will provide a webinar April 2 from 7-8 p.m. to look at how downwind sails have evolved. They will discuss the new advancements of downwind sails and how they relate back to the club racer and cruiser. At the end of the seminar they will have a Q&A session pertaining to the topics discussed.

Hampton Yacht Club Corona Series Virtual Regatta
From Lin McCarthy’s Southern Bay Racing News You Can Use:
Four Southern Bay sailing organizations, Hampton YC, Norfolk YCC, Christopher Newport University Sailing, and Youth Sailing Virginia, have teamed up to run a Virtual Regatta Series throughout the month of April. The "Corona Series" will offer six nights of Virtual One-Design Racing in the 49er, Dayboat Racer, or Offshore Racer Class each Wednesday in April on http://virtualregatta.com starting at 6 p.m.
To be eligible, Players must submit their Virtual Regatta username and email to Max Plarr, HYC Sailing Director at [email protected]. Each circle will have up to 20 participants and run six races each Wednesday night.
Thanks to Max Plarr for getting this going, and to Vir Menon of CNU Sailing, Scott Norman of NYCC, and Sam Sipe of Youth Sailing Virginia, for making it possible to run this event with up to 80 sailors. The first Wednesday is THIS COMING Wednesday, APRIL 1.
