February 3rd was my best friend Dave Stalfort's birthday and he wanted to go sailing. Apparently, 10 days in the BVIA on a Moorings 47.3 just made him want to be on the water more. So we sailed out of Hampton Yacht Club from Hampton Creek into the Chesapeake Bay. It was a fantastic reach out of the mouth of the harbor past Foot Wool. The iconic mixture of eighteenth century third system stuctures, Civil War Era, Endicott period and WW II batteries and casemates. We turned back toward Fort Monroe and sailed around the Thimble shoals channel mark R22 just to verify the Navionics chart showed the current location after it was relocated a year or so back. The as the wind dropped, we motored back to Hampton Creek. It was wonderful being in the water, especially under the vista's of Fort Wool and Fort Monroe at the entrance to Hampton Roads.
