Dragonfest in Eastport kicks off breast cancer awareness month.

Locals and sailors in town for the Annapolis Sailboat Show won't want to miss the third annual Dragonfest at Pier 4 Marina in Eastport (301 Fourth Street) on Sunday, October 13, from noon to 4 p.m.

At Dragonfest you'll find live music, food and drinks, raffles, and kids activities. Support those with a breast cancer diagnosis who paddle the Dragon Boat on Spa Creek.

Following the warm reception from the Annapolis/Eastport community, The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club is excited to bring this fun event back for the third year, just in time to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Entry is free, and everyone who wears Annapolis Dragon Boat Club gear will receive a free raffle ticket.

The festivities include live music by Rickshaw Lizard plus a raffle, 50/50, silent auction, and wine pull. Fun activities for kids are planned. The menu includes barbeque, oysters, hot dogs, keg beer, water, and sodas.

The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that offers exercise and camaraderie to those in our community diagnosed with breast cancer. All proceeds will go directly to furthering our mission of improving the lives of breast cancer survivors and their families and friends. Paddling on the beautiful Spa Creek heals members' minds and bodies. Dragon boating builds physical strength, endurance, and confidence with an emphasis on recreation, synchrony, and harmony while on the water.

The club was founded in the spring of 2010 by Annapolitan, entrepreneur, and breast cancer survivor Mike Ashford. From a handful of supporters, the organization has grown to more than 100 members.
