Newport to Bermuda Day Five Update

 Boats are continuing to trickle in, with the U.S. Naval Academy's Constellation crossing the finish line on Monday night with an elapsed finish time of 77 hours, 55 minutes, and 49 seconds. Constellation was fourth in line honors and fourth in the Gibson Hill Lighthouse Division, 13th in IRC overall with results provisional.

Around the rest of the fleet:

Swift, the Navy 44, is currently 77 nautical miles from the finish and moving at just under 7 knots. Sister ship Defiance is further back in the fleet, with 137.9 nautical miles to go and only moving at about 3.4 knots.

Within the Bay-based J/120 fleet, James Praley's Shinnecock is currently 100 nautical miles off the finish line, moving at a clip of 7.2 knots. Ken Comerford's Moneypenny, is just ahead of them with 96 nautical miles to go. Moneypenny is also moving at 7.2 knots. Windborn, Rich Born's boat, is leading the J/120 fleet with only 91 miles to the finish. He's currently averaging 7 knots.

Grundoom, the Carkeek 47 out of Horsham, PA, is moving right along at 8.6 knots with only 72 nautical miles to the finish. Onboard, Chris Museler is finding time to write updates on the crew and the boat.

Within the Bay fleet are five Swans. The smallest, a Swan 43 named Akela III and owned by Djoerd Joekstra, is 111.8 nautical miles off the finish and moving along at 6.9 knots. The Swan 56 KingDaddy, owned by Devin McGranaham, is 90 miles out and moving along at 7.7 nautical miles. Just ahead of her are Haerlem and Stormy Weather, a 55 and a 44 (respectively), at roughly 86 miles out and moving along at a pace of about 6.5 knots. And leading them all is Easton, MD, resident Charles Benson's 47 Bandana, 77 miles out and moving along at 7 knots.
