If you didn't notice, there was a bit of a storm last night. A tropical system with its origins in Florida stretched up to hand us a nice little kerfuffle of sorts. High winds and rain were key factors, and for the most part there wasn't any damage.
However, you most certainly noticed the storm if you are a sailor living in Baltimore. The fleet was out on the water when race committee began noticing that the weather pattern headed their way was indeed serious. The A Fleet managed to make it through the course, but racing was abandoned while the B fleet was still racing. Full results are listed here.
Francis Scott Key Bridge weather buoys indicated that the breeze was sustained at 35. 9 knots with gusts up to 41 knots, but sailors on the water are reporting even higher readings. A video shot onboard the Farr 30 Miss Trixie shows winds at 48 knots while the crew motors back to dock. Thankfully everyone arrived back to port safe and sound.
