There isn't much to tell about yesterday's racing. Crew members hung out on land for an hour, waiting for the AP to drop. All three divisions got off their first race in about 6-8 knots of breeze, but that steadily fell. Flat water sent the boats in after just one race.
Within Division Two, the big news is that Hooligan/Flat Stanley, with Century Club member Wilson Stout onboard, came roaring around the course and ended up in third place. So far, their throw out for the regatta is a 17. This puts them in third place overall. Really amazing. The boat is owned by Trey Sheehan and races out of Ohio.
Cole Allsopp was just behind them, finishing at 15th place. Thom Bowen and crew came at 22, and the rest of the Bay fleet soon followed.
In Division Three, Stephen Murray's Decision is comfortable at second place. They're having a tough time knocking Brit Joe Woods toward the back of the fleet. Red not only beat the fleet to the windward mark, but then they made steady gains downwind. Someone should see if they're deflating their keel. John and Linda Edwards did well in the light air and came in third.
Speaking of unstoppable boats, Gerry Taylor is owning it in PHRF 2 onboard Cape Fear 38 Tangent. The regatta is his at the moment.
Despite the light air, those crazy foiling cats, the GC32s, managed to get out there and fly a hull or two. A crew member onboard one of the boats mentioned to PRO Ken Legler that they're closely monitoring their physical conditions while sailing. He told Legler that his heart rate is steadily at 200 bpm while sailing. That is a physical boat.
