This is just ugly. The Tall Ship Sloop Providence, the official flagship of Rhode Island and Tall Ship ambassador, toppled over during the first big blizzard of 2015 and suffered significant damage.
Sloop Providence is a 110-foot fully-rigged sailing vessel, a replica of John Paul Jones' warship that either sank or captured 40 British warships during the Revolutionary War.
Gusts upward of 60 miles per hour hit the Newport Shipyard and tipped the boat over, causing damage to her hull and mast. Extra supports hadbeen added as a precautionary measure, but were not effective.
The ship has appeared in two of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
