Annapolis and Eastport’s favorite way to get around returns this weekend! The Annapolis Water Taxi, owned and operated by Watermark, begins service for the 2015 season starting this Friday, April 17th. The Water Taxi will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays now until daily service starts in mid-May. Also returning to Watermark’s schedule this weekend are 90-minute cruises on Saturday and Sunday.
The Water Taxi Service weekend schedule is Friday from 4-11 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.-11:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Hours will expand in mid-May. Guests may call 410-263-0033 or VHF channel 68 for service. Fares are $3-8 per person depending upon destination. Cash and water taxi vouchers are the only accepted forms of payment. Water Taxi vouchers may be purchased online in increments of $20 at http://cruisesonthebay.com/watertaxi or in-person at Watermark’s floating barge office at the end of City Dock.
Water Taxi Service details for the 2015 are as follows:
- On weekday mornings, City Dock to Back Creek service is available at 11 a.m. only. Hourly service begins at 1 p.m. on demand. Guests must call the Captain for pickup at least 15 minutes before the hour. No 10 a.m. or 12 p.m. Back Creek service on weekdays.
- On weekends and holidays, departs City Dock for Back Creek on the hour as traffic demands.
- On weekends and holidays, departs Back Creek for City Dock approximately 20 minutes past the hour if you call 15 minutes before the hour.
- Other locations on demand (there is no set route).
Watermark’s 90-minute narrated cruises take guests out on the water to enjoy the Severn River and the Bay. The Scenic Severn River Cruise is a 6-mile cruise on the beautiful Severn River. It includes viewing the waterfront residents of the Severn River, the banks of the US Naval Academy and the Annapolis Harbor. Severn River Cruise departs at 12:30 p.m. The 90-minute Chesapeake Bay Bridges Cruise goes under the twin spans of the Bay Bridge while enjoying the sights of the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay Bridges Cruise departs at 2:30 p.m. Thomas Point Lighthouse Cruise takes guests up close to the one of the most recognized lighthouses in Maryland. The Thomas Point Lighthouse Cruise departs at 4:30 p.m. Vessels are climate controlled and have full bars and restrooms on board.
Ninety minute cruises are offered on Friday and Saturday now through June 21; Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays June 26-September 7 and Saturdays and Sundays September 12-October 4. Tickets are $25/Adults, $10/Children 3-11, Free 2 & Under. Advanced reservations for a select number of tickets are available online. Walk-ups are always welcome.
