On Saturday, May 4, Potapskut Sailing Association celebrated our 75 th anniversary with a spectacular party at our clubhouse on Blackhole Creek. It was attended by 190 members, former members, former Junior Sailors, neighboring Commodores of Magothy River Sailing Association and Grachur Clubs, and just about anyone who has ever enjoyed the hospitality of PSA.
A blessing of the harbor opened the festivities, followed by an introduction of all living past Commodores and Board members. When the call was made for all past and present Junior Sailors to come to the front, the crowd was impressive, ranging in age from 8 to perhaps 70! PSA has been an early training ground for some of the best sailors on the Bay, and we continue that tradition every June. This year, we will also hold our second annual Junior Regatta on
July 10, and hope to attract many young sailors of Optis, Lasers and Force 5’s, and 420’s.
It was wonderful to see many old friends; some who came from as far away as Colorado to swap sea stories and enjoy the evening. Together we toasted the future as we thanked our founders for their legacy of this beautiful property on the Magothy, and the spirit of camaraderie that is fostered in this very special little club.
