Summer is rolling over us and our sailing season is in full swing for the Pentagon Sailing Club. It is hard to believe that we are half way through the sailing season and all is going extremely well. Our River Training program has been a success and there is still time for more social sailing time out in the water, and racing on the river.
In July, two boats with PSC sailors sailed around the Delmarva Peninsula. Their plan had been prepared to shape this sail focusing on adventure, safety, training, operational risk management, and having fun.
Our annual Caribbean sailing trip to British Virgin Islands in July had a large group of PSC sailors enjoying the weather, food, drinks and most of all the camaraderie.
In September, PSC sailors will sail the beautiful waters and islands of Croatia and Greece.
PSC is very active on the Chesapeake Bay this year as well. We will enjoy in a few days one of our biggest events – Labor Day Raft-Up. We have many participants signed up at this time, but the books are still open. This year our main motto is “Oktoberfest Celebration”. The evening will feature traditional Oktoberfest apparel and fare (lederhosen, wurst, brats and kraut!), with a keg-tapping to celebrate the Club’s many 2013 sailing excursions. We will go to Sillery Bay on Magonty River for the raft up, and on the second day, to Rock Hall marina for “Crazy Hats and Shades Marina Party”.

Hope to see you soon! Fair Winds...
