The Philadelphia Sailing Club had seven wonderful, mostly sunny days of sailing in the lower bay.
We sailed out of Deltaville, Va, a pleasant drive. We chose to pay for an extra night, so that we were able to board the boats at 4:00, which left plenty of time to have the ECMs check out the boats, do some last minute provisioning and have a leisurely dinner.
It was great to explore new waterways and anchorages. We spent a night in the Potomac near St Marys City, another in Dymer Creek, and our last anchorage was in Carter Creek off of the Rappahanock River. We had hoped to anchor near Grog Island, but it is no longer.
One marina stay was at Kinsale which was very picturesque. Both boats had dinner at the marina restaurant, where one man was our bartender, waiter, busboy, and chef. My oysters came from just a short distance out in the bay.
Our other marina stay was in Urbanna; the town dock had really nice showers we all needed and desired. And, it was fun to explore the town, which was just a short walk away.
At the end of the trip, I was left with memories of all the places we had been, many beautiful sunsets and sun rises we had seen, and all the places still left to explore in the lower bay.
