It has been a busy fall for the Potomac River Sailing Association!
We wrapped up our local PRSA Fall Racing Series on the Potomac on November 10. All told, we held over 50 races across our 9-week fall season--and sailing was cancelled on two of our planned race days due to the government shutdown! The Albacore, Buccaneer, Catamaran, and Lightning Classes were all active in the racing this fall, and we also welcomed some I-Scows to the fun. Above all, we were thrilled to see over 50 boats participate in our signature fall event, the PRSA President’s Cup—a one-design regatta held on the Potomac since 1934.
In addition to our local sailing, a number of PRSA members traveled to major regional, national, and international regattas. PRSA sailors from the Albacore, Buccaneer, and Lightning classes all competed in their respective North American championship regattas this year. PRSA Albacore Sailors Barney Harris also made the trip to Abersoch, Wales, for the Albacore International Championships, where he topped a 50-boat fleet for 1st place overall!

PRSA Club History
PRSA was founded in 1935 to provide a focal point for small boat sailing on the Potomac River. If you are new to the area or new to sailing, there is no better way to meet others with similar interests than through PRSA. While PRSA is surprisingly affordable, it offers a sailing experience second to none. We hold more than 40 days of bona fide one-design racing every year –more than 150 races, with roughly 2,500 dinghy starts — plus weekday evening races, clinics, and various fleet-sponsored activities. We doubt there is any club on the Bay with a racing program as active as ours, and certainly nothing comparable to our low cost. We hope you plan on sailing with us this year.
