Safe boating with Kent Narrows Sail and Power Squadron Boat Inspections

Are your fire extinguishers in working order? Do all of your lights work?  Do you have enough flares, and are they current?

knspsMembers of the Kent Narrows Sail and Power Squadron are ready to perform free vessel safety checks on your boat at a time convenient to you.

The Vessel Safety Check includes those mandatory items required aboard a pleasure craft plus 16 other recommended safety and/or discussion items.  Boats passing the VSC will receive a Safety Seal Decal, and could qualify for a discount on their marine insurance.  Skippers needing additional safety equipment may receive a discount on safety related items at their local Marine Stores.

Don’t delay.  Contact Dan Ehrenfeld at 410-507-0392 ([email protected]) or click here and click on Vessel Safety Check to schedule your inspection before you start the 2014 boating season.  Be Safe!  Be Prepared!

Dedication to Boating Safety, Education and Fellowship marks the new year!

knsps2The new officers of the Kent Narrows Sail and Power Squadron are planning a year of fun (social events) and service for the boating community.  Our monthly meetings at the Kent Island Yacht Club include both education and comraderie as we seek to build our knowledge of boating on the Chesapeake and beyond.  Recently we heard Will Hemsley present a documentary  on the life of modern day watermen, and learned about the USPS On the Water and Boat Operator Certification. Upcoming monthly seminars will include Fire Extinguisher/Flare Demo and Training, Rules of the Road, Sail Trim, How to use a Chart, Using a GPS, and Marine Electrical.   Follow us on Facebook or go to our web site
