The Quantico Yacht Club, in cooperation with MCB Quantico Marina and the Town of Quantico, Open House on 3 May, 12PM to 5PM is open to the general public. Our objectives are to promote safe, fun, family activities on and near the Potomac River while highlighting what the local area has to offer.
The day starts with our flag raising with a SEA SCOUT Honor Guard at 0845 followed by a blessing of the fleet and the inaugural OCEAN RESEARCH PROJECT Regatta (ORP Notice of Race). The ORP was founded by solo circumnavigator of the Americas, Matt Rutherford, and all proceeds from the race go to the ORP. The regatta is the first of the Potomac Yacht Racing Council Championship series
The Open House will have food and refreshments as well as picnic areas available. Activities include USCGA courtesy safety checks and safety equipment demonstrations and booths from organizations including the Sea Scouts, local marine law enforcement, Marine Corps Community Services, Mid-Potomac Power Squadron, Potomac River Yachting Association, and Armed Forces Motorsports Foundation. We’ll conclude the day with complementary sails on the river.
