Summer at the Nanticoke River YC

Nanticoke River YC members getting their boat blessed.

Nanticoke River Yacht Club had a very busy Spring season. The Club participated in the Nanticoke Marine Park Festival in early May. Club members came early to cook scrapple sandwiches and manned an information booth all day.

Mother’s Day was celebrated at the Club with a fantastic brunch. And the Kentucky Derby Party featured some unique “bonnets” along with the mint juleps. The regular Friday Night Dinners are proving to be a success – with wonderful meals at a reasonable price while fostering camaraderie among members and guests.

We’re looking forward to an active Summer season with more boats using the Marina and members getting out on the Nanticoke River for fishing and sightseeing.

The famous Nanticoke Riverfest with its “float-in” will be held July 11 -12 in downtown Seaford and Blades. The Yacht Club is partnering with the Town of Blades, the Nanticoke River Sail and Power Squadron, BEDCO and the Riverfest committee to host a lighted boat parade. The lineup will take place Friday, July 11th on the Club porch at 6:30 pm and the parade will begin forming at 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to join in or to watch from either the Seaford or the Blades side of the river.

August 9th at noon, the Delaware Nature Society, Nanticoke River Sail and Power Squadron, Nanticoke Watershed Alliance, and Delaware Watershed’s Reclaim our Rivers for our first ever “Recycled Cardboard Boat Regatta”. For additional information, rules and registration, go to delawarewatershed.org.

We hope you’ll join us on the Nanticoke this Summer. We’re on Facebook  or our website
