Catalina Fleet 3 has held several raft ups in the months of July and August. The July 4th events were well attended in spite of the unsettled weather over the holiday weekend. Plenty of wind that weekend! On the weekend of July 19-20th, Fleet 3 had a raft up in Warehouse Creek off Cox Creek in the Eastern Bay. It’s a beautiful anchorage and fairly peaceful, once the water skiers leave. Some crabbers were working a trotline nearby, but without much luck. On August 9th we had a land and sea event to celebrate the full moon hosted by John and Judy Bonanno at their water front home on the Magothy River. With light winds all weekend, we had only two come by boat, with many by land. Burgers and brauts were served with wonderful side dishes and appetizers, washed down with beer and wine. To top off the evening we had a campfire with s’mores for dessert while we were entertained by a fireworks display from competing sides of the creek. The water was like glass with the moon reflecting off it as we dinghied back to our boats.
August 30th the Vail’s will host our Labor Day raft up beginning in Grey’s Inn Creek off the Chester River on Saturday. The location of the second night will be determined on Saturday or maybe even Sunday morning. September 6th is the annual Them Eastport Oyster Boys concert in Shaw Bay and it’s always a great time. Hopefully the weather cooperates. At the end of September on the 27th we will be in the Rhode River to kick off our fall Liar’s Cruise; destinations to be determined as we go.
Seems like yesterday we launched the boat and here we are into fall sailing. Where did the summer go?
