SBCC Kicks Off Nov. Training Program

The Southern Bay Cru’z Club (SBCC) Training Captain (“Rod” Rodriguez) put forth a spectacular training program this year. Training sessions were conducted benefitting both motor and sailing vessels, including training for those without a vessel.

These offerings included: the Virginia required Safe Boating course: a Sail and Sail Trim training seminar; the ever popular 1st Mate/Partner in Command training presented by the Va. Beach Power and Sail Squadron; and a fishing and tackle seminar.

The 2013-2014 Training session concluded with a visit to the Tidewater Community College Marine Simulator for a tour and training session which included VHF radio and communications; navigation and radar; and hands-on training on the school’s life-size vessel simulator where attendees were afforded the opportunity to drive and dock a 100’ USCG cutter.

The 2014-2015 training season commences in November 2014 with another robust training schedule including these planned offerings during the 1st three months: First Aid, Marine Awareness and Safety at Sea, Mobile Computing as an aide in Boating, Rules of the road and Chart Reading and Plotting.
