Mastering Rules of the Road

This seminar explains and provides examples for the 37 Rules of the Road for both the U.S. Inland Rules and the International Rules (COLREGS). It simplifies the sometimes complex law relating to recreational boat operation and can be a study preparation starting point for the USCG License examination. The optional seminar kit includes McGraw-Hill's The One Minute Guide to the Nautical Rules of the Road by Charlie Wing, Seminar Guide.

This seminar is designed to provide essential information crew require to assist a skipper in the safe operation of a recreational boat including how to respond to emergencies. This seminar includes an optional text and a knot practice board useful to practice tying knots. The student kit also includes the student notes booklet, a completion certificate, and a patch.

DNR Boating Safety Class

May 2 & 3, 2015, Saturday 9:00 to 3:00 (30 min break for lunch) & Sunday 12:00 to 4:00 PM

Get your Boating Safety Class Card in one weekend! You need this class to legally operate a recreational vessel in Maryland if you were born after July 1972. Everyone who attends this class and passes the test with an 80% or higher will be awarded the Boating Safety Class Card. This class is being offered over one weekend with the test at the end (3 to 4 PM). For those who register early, arrangements will be made to get you the study material before the course begins. Attendance is required to be awarded the card. The basics of boating safety, Maryland boating laws, and more are covered in this course. All attendees will receive the Maryland Boating Safety guide.

Join Us For Dinner …

The Annapolis Sail and Power Squadron hosts a dinner the first Thursday of each month at the Annapolis Sheraton with an interesting maritime themed speaker.  All are welcome to attend the March 5th dinner. The open bar begins at 1800 hours, dinner is $30.00 each. On February 8th we celebrated Founder’s Day to commemorate the history and celebrate the future of the Squadron.  Our guest speaker was Gary Jobson, author of 19 books, world class sailor, and president of the National Sailing Hall of Fame.
