Last fall the Commodore of West River Sailing Club announced he was ready for summer; last month, he had a lot of company. That said, the last two months have been busy at West River; we’ve had a seminar, or event every Saturday of February and March.
On March 14, SpinSheet editor Molly Winans moderated a Start Sailing Now Q&A with a panel of WRSC members who gave great advice to new sailors on getting into the sport.
Attendees toured the facility, checked out the boats, and enjoyed meeting new friends. Thank you to WRSC for your warm welcome, as always!
Other events included the Cruising Fleet’s wine and cheese awards presentation, the Flying Scot Fleets planning dinner, Spin Sheet’s Start Sailing Now, US Sailing Association Race Management Course and a diesel maintenance seminar by Bunkie Hines, the chief mechanic at Hartge Yacht Yard.
The big event everyone is looking forward to is the Flag Raising on Saturday April 18, which kicks off the sailing season. All are welcome! Contact the Membership Chair, Amelia Whitman at [email protected] to RSVP.
Our Spring Regatta will happen the following weekend, along with the Cruising Fleet’s Early Bird Cruise to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.
See you on the water!
