On Memorial Day Weekend? 12 sailors from The Philadelphia Sailing Club had a great long weekend of sailing on the Chesapeake. We were on two comfy boats, the Katie Liz and Pegasus, from Haven Charters in Rockhall MD.
Well, actually Saturday's wind was, well, we did manage to sail for a bit before turning on the iron genny to get us to a club favorite anchorage behind Big Island in the Rhode River. However, on Sunday and Monday, we had winds of 15-20 knots, just what we had hoped for. On Sunday evening, we tucked into the back cove just past Sillery Bay on the Magothy River, on the north side of Gibson Island, for another quiet and pretty anchorage.
