Adventures with the Sailing Club

Here are some of the recent activities with The Sailing Club, Inc: A bareboat charter cruising club devoted to safe sailing while having fun.

Chestertown, MD Tea Party Festival May 22-24: As our two boats headed up the Chester River, the wind seemed to take us in it’s palm and push us forward. What a thrilling day of sailing we had up river to Chestertown! With winds steady at 20-25 knots and frequent gusts to almost 30, made the helmsman pay close attention.

We felt blessed (or under a strange spell) as all reports suggested we’d be motoring more than half the way! We arrived for the Friday evening Block Party and received a warm welcome from the Chestertown marina manager, JR. Our boats and crews were treated very well. The weather for the festival was perfect and our two crews participated in just about everything, with special emphasis on the great food!

Summer Solstice/Sailstice Trip: The perfect way to welcome summer, this trip will leave Rock Hall, Md June 20 and return June 22, 2015. We’re packing lots of sailing into 3 days with raft-ups each night in a sheltered cove. June on the Chesapeake is perfection and we’re hoping for an evening swim off the stern.

Windjammer Schooner Festival: The club has secured 7 cabins on the schooner Victory Chimes and will be boarding in Rockland, Maine on August 31 and return on September 5th. The route will be a leisurely one along the Maine coast, arriving in Camden on September 4th to participate in their annual schooner festival. This trip, organized by The Sailing Club is managed by the Victory Chimes and allows trip participants a chance to enjoy being a passenger on a 170 ft. wooden sailing vessel, help out the crew desired or just relax.
