SMSA's Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge Regatta - Reminiscing.  You run aground once, and no one lets you forget it!  Solomons local J111 Bad Cat ran aground during the 2014 SPLC distance race.  So all in good fun, and in hopes of preventing a repeat of past events, this year's SPLC race committee made a sign to post on the river marker where she ran aground last year.  No bottoms were roughed-up this year.

SMSA's 'hot' August event is our annual Mixed Couples Race/Cruise up the Patuxent River to Battle Creek.  It's always a well-attended and well-received event for racers and cruisers alike, open to all boat sizes.  All year, members and friends eagerly look forward to mid-August, when we race to the raft-up, then anchor, break out the water toys and food, and settle down for a nice long evening of on-the-water socializing and exercise.
