Not to Belabor Labor Day

But, The Philadelphia Sailing Club had a great Labor Day weekend sail. It began on Friday night. We boarded our boats, charted from Haven Charters in Rockhall, MD. Peg and Larry Slack were kind enough to organize and host a happy hour on their boat Pegasus, then we all headed out for dinner.

On Saturday evening, we anchored in Millcreek off of Whitehall Bay, our two chartered boats were joined by four member owned boats for a raft, Peg and Larry Slack on Pegasus, Marry Ann and Harry Kraemer on Sahiba, Jason Ginsberg on Panacea, and Dot and Bruce Govan showing off their vintage motor sailor Longreach.

Dot and Bruce have done an amazing job of restoring their boat. I was faced with a tough choice after the raft was all set, should I socialize first or go for a swim? Ah, duty called, I am membership chair, so I made the rounds of the raft to greet any new members I hadn't all ready met. It was great to see new and old members mingling so well. We spent Sunday night in Broad Creek off of the Magothy River where we had another fun raft with swimming and plenty of boat visiting.

I could have wished for more wind, but, my boat at least, sailed well in the light winds we had. Light winds were better than no winds and let's face it, you need to be good at light wind sailing to enjoy sailing on 'our' bay.

We are the Philadelphia Sailing Club. We welcome sailors of all levels and want to be sailors. Most of our trips are on the Chesapeake Bay. While many of our members live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, we also have members from many other states. Please visit our web site, philadelphiasailingclub.org, for more information.
