August 14 and 15 was a big weekend for Stingray Harbor Yacht Club (SHYC). Together with Stingray Point Marina, we held activities for all ages. Beginning with a Second Friday dinner hosted by our Vice Commodore, Fritz Huntjens, club members enjoyed savory fish and beef tacos. As the sun set over the the marina, we listened to the delightful music of "Out On A Limb" and celebrated the lovely summer evening with fellow yacht owners.
Saturday afternoon we hosted “The Water Games Event” - a family friendly afternoon of games for all ages held at the pool and creek. The small but enthusiastic competitors dove for jewels, raced rubber frogs across the pool, threw life cushions, and attached lines to pilings with boat hooks. In between events to showcase their feats of athleticism, families demonstrated their mental acuity for all things nautical in a spirited scavenger hunt.
The highlight of the afternoon was a blind dingy race, where Dad’s and kids showed their crewing prowess as they competed in a spirited race around the creek, while being cheered on by a small but enthusiastic crowd. Finally we all cooled off from the heat and excitement with watermelon beneath the lighthouse!
