CBC Sail Picnic Outing

The twelfth event of the Chesapeake Bristol Club (CBC) 2015 season was the St John’s College (The Arnie Gay Memorial) Sail Picnic outing coordinated by Deb and Ken Coons. The Arnie Gay Memorial Sail Picnic took place on Saturday, September 19. Twelve boats took fifty-four students sailing and "gunkholing" on a beautiful day.

In collaboration with Eastport Yacht Club (EYC) we had a combined fleet of 12 (10 sail, 2 power) boats with 54 “johnnies” for day. CBC boats were Acomes, Chantey, Galatea, and Scudder. We picked up students at the Annapolis Sailing Hall of Fame near the City Dock around 10 a.m. and dropped them back at around 4 p.m.

In between we sailed the Bay and rafted up White Hall Creek near Rideout Creek. Students brought picnic lunches for themselves and boat skippers and crews. After dropping off students, CBC boats proceeded to Mill Creek for a great hors d’oeuvres and dinner feast at the new Providence Community Clubhouse coordinated by Scott Doran. The afternoon was beautiful with a wonderful breeze and a bright blue sky so there was great sailing.
