Warmer weather in February and March, meant Club members had a raft of events leading into an active April with the Change of Watch Ball coming up May 7. On February 27, BCYC members met at Steve Bacon’s and Leslie Goodwyn’s House in Annapolis for a wine and cheese pre-Academy Awards party; on March 13, they viewed the start of Spring Training (TV from Florida) at Mary Bowie’s condo in sight of National’s Stadium from high up in Crystal City, VA. On March 19, a substantial BCYC contingent attended “One Shell Of A Party,” with unlimited servings of freshly shucked local oysters, heavy hors d’oeuvers from Palate Pleasers, an open bar, silent auctions, and John Starr’s Jazz band sponsored by the South River Federation at Homestead Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
On April 7 there will be a wine tasting at Wine Cellars of Annapolis with analysis and tasting of wines from around the world, along with cheeses, charcuterie, bread, and socializing. On April 9 members will be attending beautiful and inspiring music as performed by the 160 voices of the Annapolis Chorale with soloists and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra presenting Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at Maryland Hall, in Annapolis, with a pre-performance dinner at nearby Carpaccio’s.
BCYC Florida members closed up their winter season that included a Leaping Year Day on February 29, Bowling the Night Away; on March 10 a fun-filled beach party at Ben and Candy Nelson’s Ocean Resort in Ft. Pierce on Hutchinson Island North, with a side trip to the nearby Navy Seal Museum; on March 17 a St. Paddy's Day Bash with the Rosses, Mary and Richard Ross, at Manatee Pocket in Stuart, Florida; a final gathering was held March 31 before the BCYC South Contingent started to move North.
