Add Some Green to Your Holidays

If you'd like to cut down on waste and make your holidays more eco-friendly, here are some ways to add "green" to your holidays from Annapolis Green:

A great gift for the gardener in your life – Four months ago Annapolis Green helped the Annapolis Rotary Crabfeast go Zero Waste! It was a monumental task with close to 13 tons of crab shells, corn cobs, cardboard trays, napkins, melon rinds, and other organic material collected and transformed into compost, thanks to Veteran Compost. This sweet smelling, fluffy Christmas Crab Compost is NOW AVAILABLE for your gardens.

The compost from Annapolis Green is packaged in gift-wrapped, manageable 5-gallon buckets ($10) and one-gallon bags ($5)

Buy online here or at the Annapolis Green House, 92 Maryland Avenue. Call 410-656-9420 for info.

Wrap Responsibly - Come to the Annapolis Green House during the Dec. 8 & 15 Midnight Madness events for “responsible” gift wrapping featuring unique, innovative packaging in recycled, fun materials that would otherwise go to waste. Think burlap, fabric, blueprints, and more.

Recycle your old holiday lights – Keep them out of the landfill! Whether they’re working or not, Annapolis Green will take them and pass them on to MOM’s Organic Market who will see that they are taken apart and the valuable materials harvested for another use. If you’re buying new holiday lights, be sure to get energy-saving LEDs.

Annapolis Green will take your wine corks for recycling too!

Giving a Party? Buy Your Compostable Dinnerware from Annapolis Green – Annapolis Green has a supply of compostable plates, hot cups, cold cups, knives, forks, spoons and napkins. If you're thinking of buying plastic for your holiday celebration talk with Annapolis Green first. The non-profit may be able to save you money AND put these materials back into the Circle of Life by having it turn into rich compost. Contact Annapolis Green.
