Labor Day Regatta

Another singlehanding day with Wiggy Wiggy for the AYC Labor Day regatta in the Quaran-team Pursuit Race class.  Start delayed an hour due to lack of wind.  I had a very difficult but on time start as the scratch boat at 1203 at G5 due to the immense amount of powerboat wake there.  Finally cleared the Severn and got into some breeze and tacked out to R2.    Had a good rounding as the current switched to ebb without the other two competitors (a SC30 and a Laser Radial) in sight.  Headed back to the finish, and figured out that I was sailing the wrong course.  Sigh.   Unfortunatly, my brain thought Course A was the short course, when it was actually the long course which would have been over to the Eastern Shore to WR87, then up to G91 at the bridge and a finish at G5 after passing the Annapolis "A".    After the struggle with the foul current and light air during yesterday's race , I knew there was no way that WW could do that upwind leg from 87 to 91 in time, and retired.  Another frustrating day on the water.  Did I mention the insane amount of Powerboat wake?   It really was a washing machine which made the ride quite uncomfortable.  My poor mainsail got a beating.
