Racing Roundup August 2-4
It’s August on the Chesapeake, and you know what that means? The wind may come and go, but the show must go on… Here’s your racing roundup for August 2-4 on the Chesapeake Bay.
Governor’s Cup
After an unfortunately cancellation of last year’s edition of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Governor’s Cup due to dam (and we mean dam!) debris, the 46th was much anticipated for 118 competing boats. In addition to the “main event”—sailing 70 nautical miles from America’s Sailing Capital to its first capital, St. Mary’s City—there were boats racing from Fishing Bay and from Solomons. There was a bit of attrition this year due to dying wind in the morning (been there, right?), but there were many who tiptoed over the line for an award… Find full Gov Cup results here.
