Oh, summer, we hardly knew ye… but man, what a great last hurrah for summer racing on the Chesapeake Bay. Competitors in the J/30 North Americans, AYC Solomons Race, Snipe Masters National Championships, and others benefitted from the terrific conditions. Southern Bay Scene
This just in from Lin McCarthy’s Southern Bay Racing News You Can Use
CCV Racing, Fall Series Day 2, Middle Distance Race.
Sunday brought plenty of sunshine and light air. The air went so light as to cause the race committee to shorten the race. And, of course, as soon as the shorten decision was instituted, the breeze puffed up again. Oh well – it’s been that kind of summer. This was the middle distance (government marks course) race of the Fall Series and also counted in the CCVR Distance Series as well as the Southern Bay Distance Series administered by Broad Bay Sailing Association Twenty-eight (28) boats raced and everyone finished.
RESULTS:
PHRF A (11 boats): 1.Peter Hunter, Wairere; 2.Don DeLoatch, Riff Raff; 3.Neil Ford and Lis Biondi, Danger Paws.
PHRF B/C (11 boats): 1.Rusty Burshell, Cool Change; 2.Alan Bomar, Roundabout; 3.Bob Archer, Bad Habit.
PHRF Non-Spin (6 boats): 1.Donna DeSteph, Restless; 2.Ken Copeland, Black Widow; 3.Alan Johnson, Seeker. Principal Race Officer- Brian Deibler.
The Series takes a break for Va Beach Neptune Festival weekend for the NEPTUNE’S ATLANIC REGATTA on Sept 28th
CCV Fall Series Day 3 (Races 4&5 are scheduled for Sunday October 6th. Two drop mark course races are planned.

Fourteen (14) boats got the Fishing Bay YC Fall series started on Saturday.
