There has been quite a bit of chatter about bow riding and exceptions to legislation proposed in Maryland and Florida. We can't speak for Florida sailors, but we have been in touch with the Marine Trades Association of Maryland (MTAM), who works on legistlation affecting boaters. MTAM is looking out for us, as usual. An amendment has been drafted--it exempts sail, oar, and paddle boats, as well as emergency vessels. Here is what Delegate Mary Beth Corozza posted to her Facebook page, with the message:
"BOAT SAFETY BILL ONLY PROHIBITS DANGEROUS BOW RIDING... EXEMPTS SAIL, OAR AND PADDLE BOATS & EMERGENCY VESSELS"
