We all know it was a cold one. And brutal. And just generally god-awful. But now a time-lapse video from a NASA satellite can show us just how much snow cover we had between January 1 and March 24.
The GOES-East satellite sits at a fixed position in orbit so that it can watch over one part of the earth all the time. It takes one picture every half hour, and so it managed to catch the snowstorm that hit Atlanta in late January, the freezing-over of the Great Lakes, and the uncommon levels of snow in Chicago, Washington, D.C. and more.
We are ready for spring.
