Had the longest kayak ride yet this season on a Wednesday evening -- since our sailboat races haven't started yet. Air temp 70's again, and wind 5-7 from the South. Kayaked out the Severn River's Valentine Creek south into Round Bay all the way around Kyle Point to the south of us, and then back. Wonderful ride, with quite a few power boats out. Including one towing a wakeboarder -- in water that's less than 55 degrees!

Had a lovely Tuesday evening out on kayaks with a friend. Weather low 70's, and wind 5-8 from the S, so we were able to start on the Severn's Valentine Creek and head south on Round Bay nearly to Kyle Point. And then had an easy ride back, since the wind was with us. 3-4 boats out, but not too many wakes, which was nice.
The wind was up on the Severn when I went out at 6:30, blowing 13-18 from the SW, but I stayed in Valentine Creek, where the wind was 3-4 with fluky gusts over 10 coming from every-which-way. Kept the kayak on the right side of the water, and didn't venture out into the Severn. For the first time this year saw three other kayaks out with me. And again no power or sail boats. Wonderful!
Nice to be out on the kayak after a day off due to rainstorms. Glassy water again, and no boats out. Probably the last time of the season, since more and more boats are getting de-winterized and out on the water here on the Severn.
must mean spring is upon us, which it literally finally is, though with cold days alternating with warm ones it is hard to tell. Glassy water, light winds, a friend to kayak with, and not a boat in sight made it a beautiful evening to be out -- the third day in a row.
Out for the second time on the kayak in two days, this time with a friend. No wind, beautiful evening with glassy water providing great reflections. Checked out Plum Creek to its mouth, and the same with Valentine Creek, both off of the Severn. A great way to socially distance and visit!
Spent an hour starting at 6 p.m. having a lovely evening on the kayak on Valentine Creek, with only 1-3 mph winds. Only saw 1 boat out -- a 70's style 30' catamaran -- so had no wakes and beautiful glassy water. Fabulous!
Got stuck on a call for work until 5:45, but got on the kayak by 6 p.m., just after sunset, and had a glorious ride. 5 kt winds with gusts to 10 from the NW kept me alert, and low water kept me from going all the way to the headwaters of Plum Creek, off the Severn, but it was a beautiful time for a 35 minute trip. Best part was that I only saw ducks -- still no powerboats on Plum or Valentine Creeks -- feels like this will be the last time this year that will be the case. 60+ degree air temp was really nice; looking forward to kayaking in shorts soon!
65 degree weather brought my sister to join me in a kayaking trip mid-afternoon today on Valentine Creek, off the Severn River. She lives in the DC area, but came over to enjoy the sunshine and get on the water. And with glassy water, and no wind, it was a beautiful way to catch up on family while remaining socially distant. Loving the change in the weather!
66 degree air temperature was too tempting to pass up, so spent nearly an hour on the kayak on the Severn's Round Bay right before & after sunset. Only saw one boat -- plus one fox, a heron, and two ducks. wind 2 mph from the SW made for glassy conditions, and with the water in the 40's and the air in the 60's it made for interesting air temps, changing up and down all the time. Glassy water!
