Sunday night races on a really cool and pleasant spring evening
Century Club: Mario Santana
Worked bow for some friends. Beautiful spring day. Learned a ton, had a blast.
Cruised around, catching several fleets doing their thing. Lots of boats on the water, including an unofficial rainbow race at one point!
Took a rainbow out on a low wind day to practice puff chasing... But there weren't any puffs. First day of the season that I thought to wear long sleeve sun shirt, so even the sunburn was slow today.
Went out for a little practice on a rainbow. Did a bunch of maneuvers, including reefing and shaking out, but by far the most fun was learning to steer with the sails. I put the tiller in the tiller lock and it was not so easy but it was a lot of fun on a beautiful summer like day. Time to break out the long sleeves for a start sunburning too much...
Quick little jaunt before racing with Paul and Steve, who just passed their 101 this weekend. They did great!
Spent a great few hours solo on this beautiful spring day., working especially on exploring how trim and helm interact and balance on a rainbow. Then spent another few hours at the third Monday night races.
"A perfect day"
It was a glorious day on the water with Massey and Steve. Beautiful cool spring sun, sustained winds 10-15kt with enough puffs to keep it interesting. Gonna miss Sunday Night Races again, thanks for getting us out there earlier, Massey!
A whole day of practice on the water with J/105 Chessie. You know it's a good day when you're exhausted yet smiling at the end. Learned a ton, ready to practice some more next time!
Too much wind for the planned day sail on a friend's J/105, so we spent a couple of productive hours doing work. Mostly I focused on removing some old birds' nests from inside the boom, which we discovered while debugging the root cause of a sticky out haul. I've watched a lot of boat maintenance videos on YouTube but never one about this! We made sure to plug the open ends of the boom before leaving.
